The
Ramblers Association
For country walks, hiking, rambling and walking.
The Ramblers' Association exists to facilitate, for the benefit of everyone,
the enjoyment and discovery that walking outdoors can bring, and to promote respect
for the life of the countryside. Our
aims are: - encouraging walking - protecting rights of way (footpaths)
- defending the beauty of the countryside - campaigning for freedom to roam
over uncultivated open country We work to further these aims through our
campaigning work, regular walking and campaigning events, and through our publications
and information services. We have 130,000 members in 423 groups across the
country. Many members join simply to show their support for our work, but many
others are also active in working and campaigning locally. Members also take part
in an extensive program of organised walks, receive copies of the quarterly Rambler
magazine and the Rambler's Yearbook and Accommodation Guide. Contact us
for details of membership and your local group contact. The Ramblers' Information
Service is a comprehensive source of advice and information about all aspects
of walking. See our widely-praised website www.ramblers.org.uk
and extensive publications list, or contact us by phone, fax or e-mail. We
are a democratic, voluntary organisation, registered as a charity (no.306089).
