BTCC RELEASES PROVISIONAL 2006 CALENDAR
The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship has today
announced its provisional 2006 race calendar.
The
2006 BTCC calendar will again include ten race meetings at
nine different circuits throughout Britain and Ireland. Each
round will comprise three races.
The start to Britain’s biggest motor racing championship
will be at Brands Hatch, Kent on 9 April. Its culmination
will be at Silverstone, Northamptonshire on 15 October.
Notably, Ireland’s Mondello Park circuit fixture moves
from a traditional mid-summer date while Donington Park, Leicestershire
shifts to July. This is to allow for the major multi-million
pound rebuilding of Donington’s pit lane complex.
The
calendar also includes a six-week break between rounds four
and five at Thruxton, Hampshire and Croft, North Yorkshire
to avoid clashing with television broadcasts of football’s
World Cup event.
Subject to final confirmation, the 2006 BTCC calendar is:
