EAVES MAKES BTCC HISTORY WITH VICTORY HAT-TRICK
Dan Eaves made it a sensational clean sweep of victories
when he won the third of today’s (Sunday) three Dunlop
MSA British Touring Car Championship races at Thruxton, Hampshire
to add to his two triumphs earlier in the day.
Eaves, in his Team Halfords Honda, drove past SEAT’s
Luke Hines and Vauxhall’s Colin Turkington in one swoop
to take a lead he held to the finish.
Eaves, aged 29, becomes the first driver in BTCC history
to win all three races in a day. His results today move into
the lead of the championship as it heads to Brands Hatch,
Kent on 5 June.
Turkington finished the race second, finishing ahead of team-mate
Yvan Muller who just pipped Eaves’ team-mate Matt Neal
in a dramatic sprint to the chequered flag.
SEAT’s Jason Plato led the early stages but dropped
back when he was given a pit lane drive-through penalty.
