Snetterton Race Results
Race 1: THOMPSON TAKES VICTORY AND CHAMPIONSHIP
LEAD
James Thompson has won the first of today’s three Green
Flag British Touring Car rounds at Snetterton, Norfolk –
a result that moves him into the championship lead.
Thompson led all the way from pole position and set the race’s
fastest lap to achieve a maximum score. Heading into the second
of today’s three rounds, Thompson has moved nine points
ahead of Muller.
Muller finished the race fifth after starting second on the
grid. Taking second was highest-placed Harrier Zeuros Independents
Trophy runner Matt Neal, in Computeach Racing with Halfords’
Honda.
Team Honda’s Tom Chilton finished the race third with
WSR MG driver Colin Turkington also overtaking Muller for
fourth.
Finishing tenth to secure pole position for the start of
the second race - thanks to the top ten reversed grid rule
- was Vauxhall's Luke Hines.
Race 2: HINES LEADS ALL THE WAY
Vauxhall’s Luke Hines led all the way from pole position
to win the second of today’s three Green Flag British
Touring Car rounds at Snetterton, Norfolk.
Hines took the second BTCC win of his career ahead of WSR
MG driver Anthony Reid and SEAT Sport UK’s Jason Plato,
who came through from 11th on the grid and also set the race’s
fastest lap for a bonus point. Reid was the highest-placed
HarrierZeuros Independents Trophy finisher.
Vauxhall’s Yvan Muller was fourth and, as a result,
has closed the gap to team-mate and championship leader James
Thompson to five points ahead of this afternoon’s third
race.
Race 3: HUFF WINS IN FRONT OF HOME CROWD
SEAT’s Robert Huff has won the third of today’s
three Green Flag British Touring Car rounds at Snetterton,
Norfolk – the second BTCC win of his career.
Huff came through from eighth on the grid to take the lead
early on. From there, the Cambridge-based driver kept behind
him Vauxhall’s Yvan Muller and James Thompson to win
in front of his home crowd.
Thompson set the race’s fastest lap to score a crucial
bonus point. The result means that the title race will go
down to the final three rounds at Donington Park on 26 September
between Thompson, Muller and WSR MG driver Anthony Reid, who
finished the race in fifth.
Thompson leads Muller by just four points, while Reid is
very much the outside bet, a further 44 points behind.
