ITF Wheelchair Tennis Development Team arrives in UK
The
2008 ITF Wheelchair Tennis Development Team arrived in Great
Britain at the end of last week.
The eight players, who represent six different countries,
will undertake an intensive week of training ahead of the
British Open on 22–27 July, one of three Super Series
events on the 2008 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
The players are staying and training at the Lawn Tennis Association's
National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, London, and will train
under the guidance of ITF Wheelchair Tennis Development Officer
Mark Bullock, who will be assisted by other leading coaches.
Nyasha Mharakurwa (ZIM), one of five male players, and Kgothatso
Montjane (RSA), one of three female players, come to Europe
just a fortnight after winning the men’s and women’s
singles at the Limpopo Open, one of six South African tournaments
on the 2008 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
The ITF/Cruyff Foundation are funding some of the players
and others are funded personally or by their National Association.
All the players have had to meet a set of criteria. The following
