DEVONSHIRE PARK, EASTBOURNE ANNOUNCED AS VENUE FOR JULY
DAVIS CUP TIE
The LTA is pleased to announce that Devonshire Park in Eastbourne
has been chosen to play host to the forthcoming Davis Cup
by BNP Paribas tie between Great Britain and Israel 21-23
July 2006.
The Euro-African Zone Group One tie will be the second consecutive
tie in Britain this year after April’s tie against Serbia
& Montenegro in Renfrewshire, Scotland. Devonshire Park,
which last hosted a Davis Cup event in 1995 when Great Britain
defeated Monaco, is likely to accommodate 3,500 spectators
for each days play. Tickets for all three days of the tie
will go on sale to the public from Tuesday 23rd May.
Jeremy Bates, GB Davis Cup Captain, said: “We are very
excited about heading back to the grass in Eastbourne, the
conditions are always perfect there and I’m sure the
home crowd will provide us with fantastic support for this
important tie.”
Great Britain last played Israel in 2005 defeating them 3-2.
