BECKER RETURNS TO WIMBLEDON TO TRAIN FUTURE CHAMPIONS
Sunday 2nd July will see tennis legend Boris Becker show
10 rising young tennis stars how to strut their stuff at Wimbledon,
as part of Ariel Tennis Ace 'master class'. Hundreds of kids
competed in England, Scotland and Wales earlier this year
to become winners of 'Ariel Tennis Ace' - an annual nationwide
search for young British tennis talent backed by the LTA -
and the 10 youngsters were crowned 'Champions 2006'.
The 5 boys and 5 girls will play on the hallowed Wimbledon
turf as part of their prize, which also includes attending
a 4-day training session in August at the LTA's official training
camp in La Manga, Spain
Boris Becker has backed the initiative - which gets kids
of all backgrounds and abilities to pick up a racket - from
the start, along with British tennis ace Tim Henman and former
Wimbledon star Anna Kournikova.
Ariel is Britain's biggest supporter of British grassroots
tennis and is working with the LTA to help grow a new generation
of British tennis players.
Boris Becker, three times Wimbledon Champion, says: 'To see
these youngsters here today is fantastic. They have all worked
very hard to get here and should be very proud of themselves.
The standard is encouraging. Grassroots tennis needs campaigns
like Ariel Tennis Ace to get more kids playing tennis to a
higher standard'.
Ariel is also offering kids a great 'advantage' to get into
tennis this Summer. From mid-May to August 2006, special promotional
packs of Ariel Biological and Ariel Sensitive will feature
tokens which can be sent off in return for free tennis equipment.
