New Title Sponsor for Three Pro Tour Events
Hongxing Erke Signs Deal with TMS
Hongxing Erke Sports Goods Co., Ltd. is on board of the 2008
ITTF Pro Tour. The fast growing Chinese sports goods manufacturer
and TMS International signed a contract for three events of
the Pro Tour outside of China.
Qatar Open, German Open and French Open
“Hongxing Erke will be the Title Sponsor for the Pro
Tour events in Qatar, Germany and France”, TMS Managing
Director Mr. Anders Thunström explained the scope of
the partnership. TMS is the marketing company working for
the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
Last year’s Title Sponsor Liebherr will remain a sponsor
of these three tournaments but on a “Major” Sponsor
level. “With the Title sponsorship from Hongxing Erke
together with the sponsorship by Liebherr, these three events
will cover the funding that TMS gives the organisers, which
is satisfactory for us.”
First Deal in the Sports Apparel Business
It is the first time for the young Chinese company, formed
in June 2000, to go into a sponsorship with the sport of table
tennis. “It’s a really good start for us”,
Thunström added, “because we always look for partners
in different product categories. This is the first deal in
the Sports Apparel business and that can be very good for
us in the future.
“The agreement is only for the three events in 2008.
We will monitor the exposure and the values we can create
for Hongxing Erke at these events. Hopefully that will generate
an interest for both partners to continue beyond the events
in 2008”, said Mr. Thunström.
