CRYSTAL PALACE DIVING REVIEW UNDERWAY
British Swimming and the ASA have begun the review process
of the current diving facility and associated programmes at
Crystal Palace.
The national governing body has committed to helping to maintain
and develop a strong and sustainable programme that will benefit
all divers at Crystal Palace.
British Swimming has brought in independent Consultant Kelvin
Juba to evaluate the current programme and develop a way to
take it forward to ensure a vibrant diving programme is in
place for summer 2008 - when Crystal Palace is planned to
re-open.
"I'm looking at what's needed for high performance diving
at Crystal Palace and what's going on in terms of the sport
around us," said Juba.
"The process is looking at how a programme should be
run, extra facilities that may or may not be needed and various
best delivery models. It's very much an independent perspective
based on what is taking place elsewhere in the diving world.
"It's a long process that will include many stakeholders
from the divers themselves to London agencies. The aim of
the exercise is to find what is the best for diving at Crystal
Palace in the future."
