DALEY AND WATERFIELD LOOK TO SECURE OLYMPIC PLACE
British divers Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield have booked
their place in the semi-final of the 10m Platform tomorrow
as the pair look to cement their place on the Beijing Olympic
squad.
Daley and Waterfield came fifth and seventh respectively
with scores of 489.10 and 481.85 in the preliminary round
of the event which featured strong performances from Chinese
diver Lu Xin Zhou and Yue Lin.
For Daley, his performance follows from his impressive display
as part of the 10m Synchro alongside Blake Aldridge with the
pair taking bronze yesterday.
Any British athlete finishing in the top eight in the individual
events will be pre-selected for the Olympics.
If Daley records a top eight finish in tomorrows final he
will have secured his place on the Beijing squad.
A top twelve finish for Waterfield will give him his place
following his 10th place finish at the 2007 World Championships
in Melbourne.
