PATTEN TO DESCEND ON SHEFFIELD FOR MASTERS EVENT
World Championship silver medallist Cassie Patten will descend
on Sheffield this weekend for the ASA National Masters and
Senior Age Group Championships (25m).
The Stockport Metro swimmer will join a host of international
masters swimmers for the championships which features triple
World Masters champions Karen Jackson and Jenny Merritt (30-34
age group).
The championships, running from 26-28 October will also feature
recent inductees to the International Masters Swimming Hall
of Fame Sandy Galletly and Judy Wilson.
With over 1,000 competitors aged between 18-90 years old
the Championships will see athletes not only meet friends
and re-new rivalries but also try to set new World, European
and British records.
For others, the meet is good preparation for the new season
and Cassie Patten will look to test her fitness as she heads
into the Olympic year.
"The event will be a great way for me to see what kind
of shape I am in before I got out to Australia for a camp,"
she said.
"It's an enjoyable meet to go to and I don't often get
the chance to compete in a short course meet. I'm swimming
events that I do not traditionally compete in so it will be
good to try something different."
The event kicks off on Friday afternoon at 1:00pm, followed
by the evening session at 5:00pm.
Session times on Saturday are 9.00am and 1.00pm, for Sunday
they are 9.00am and 1.30pm.
