SOLO EFFORT A JUST REWARD FOR WEEKS OF HARD WORK
British synchronised swimmer Jenna Randall gave an accomplished
performance in the Solo Technical Routine at the Melbourne
World Championships to give her first senior ranking within
the sport.
Competing on her third day of the competition, The Rushmoor
teenager left National Performance Director Biz Price very
happy with the outcome from her first full international meet.
Judges marked Randall with an overall score of 86.333 with
43.000 points for execution and 43.333 points for overall
impression to place her 17th out of 27.
"I'm really happy for Jenna but there's so much more
to come from her," said Price. "She's only been
working towards her Olympic aspirations full time since January
so to come this far so soon is pleasing.
"She was very focused on her corrections and scored
very well although I think her draw went against her as the
scores flowed freely later on in the event.
"Technically you have to be so accurate and rely on
muscle memory from training and we're seeing that now with
the British girls and the judges are noticing it to."
Randall was impressive throughout her eight elements overall
but a slight error on her final element saw her drop a couple
of places.
"I focused on my elements and tried to get them as good
as I possibly could," said Randall. "The marks were
pretty much where I'd hoped for and placed me 17th overall.
"It's been a great competition for me so far and I still
have the Duet Free on Wednesday with Olivia Allison so there's
still a lot to do.
"The experience I've gained from watching the world's
best in action as well the confidence gained from the positive
feedback I've got from others and the judges has all been
worth the hard work over the past 10 weeks."
