MASTERS LOOK SET TO TAKE MANCHESTER BY STORM
Records look set to be broken this weekend as some of the
best swimmers from across the country descend on Manchester
for this year's British Masters 50m and Senior Age Group Championships.
With over 600 competitors aged between 18-90 years old, the
Championships will see athletes not only meet friends and
re-new rivalries but also try to set new world, European and
British records.
At the age of 90 Willy Van Rysel is still a force to be reckoned
with in the pool, swimming for Spencer Swim Team she will
be competing alongside fellow veteran swimmers Frances Penwarden
(Croydon), Hadrian Masters swimmer Judy Hattle and Heart of
England swimmer Judy Wilson.
King's Cormorants swimmer Jane Asher broke an impressive
10 world long course records last year, dominating the freestyle
and butterfly events, and will be looking to start this season
by gaining more titles.
World Record holder Judy Hattle goes into the 2007 Championships
looking to retain her 100m butterfly title and hopes to raise
the bar once again.
The event kicks off on Friday afternoon at 1.30pm, followed
by the evening session at 5pm.
Session times on Saturday are 9am, 2.00pm and 6pm, for Sunday
they are 9am and 2pm.
