BOCHMANN STEALS THE SHOW

Anne Bochmann (UEA Norwich) put in the performance of the day to claim the age group record twice in the girls 13 year old 400m Individual Medley.

The diabetic swimmer showed she is not disadvantaged by her condition - she won her heat comfortably and went out hard in the final to win with a time of 4:51.18 seconds

With silver going to East Kilbride's Corrie Scott in 5:05.80 and bronze to Ann Morris (Derventio) in 5:07.45.

Despite her gruelling three race session she went on to win gold in the 200m Freestyle with 2:06.08 seconds and took fourth place in the 100m Backstroke final in 1:08.78.

"I was really pleased with today," Bochmann said. "It was unexpected to claim two age group records in the 400m IM. I was feeling really good with my preparation, I gained some good times in training and it was just great to win my gold."

Bochmann's coach Dave Calella was thrilled with her performance throughout the day and is pleased with her improvement.

"She did a really good job today," he said. "More than we could have asked for. We have seen massive improvements through the past year.

"We did have a difficult time for the first six weeks of her training but she has really come on and she has never left her condition cause her any problems and that is really admirable."
