ASA APPOINTS DIRECTOR FOR LONDON
The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) has enhanced its development
team with the appointment of Colin Brown as Regional Director
of the London Region.
For the past 10 years Brown has worked for the Amateur Rowing
Association (ARA) as Business Development Manager and in this
time he undertook other roles including training and sport
development.
Brown will take up the role of ASA Regional Director for
London from the 19th Feb. He will be head up a team looking
to improve facilities, increase participation and opportunities
for progression through the aquatic disciplines in the capital.
On his new position, Brown commented: "I hope to bring
new ideas into the job. London is a culturally diverse city
and I want to get as many people as possible involved in swimming.
I think I bring a very good knowledge of the sport to the
job and I look forward to the challenges ahead.
"Swimming is second only to walking as the top participation
sport in England and now has a real chance of becoming an
important tool in reaching health targets."
Will Collins, Chairman of London Swimming, is eager to see
the influence that Brown will have on the region.
"I am very excited by the appointment of Colin Brown
as Regional Director for London," he said. "I believe
his experience and knowledge of the sport will help swimming
surge forward in this region."
