HUNTER BOOSTS BRITISH MEDAL TALLY

Andrew Hunter claimed swimming's second medal at the World University Games with silver in the 200m Freestyle.

The Stirling swimmer set a new personal best of 1:48.17 in a fast race that saw winner Adam Ritter of the USA claim a new Games Record of 1:47.42.

Hunter (21) was fast off the blocks and kept hold of the second spot behind Ritter for the duration, holding off a challenge from Canadian Brian Johns who closed the gap on the final length and touched twelve hundredths of a second behind for bronze in 1:48.29.

Hunter's silver is the sixth medal for the British team in Bangkok which puts Britain 21st in the medal table.

Britain's men's polo team has guaranteed a top twelve finish and will face Australia tomorrow to fight for a spot in the final eight.

Diver Stacie Powell has qualified ninth into the final of the women's 10m Platform which takes place on Friday (17 August).
