HUNTER BOOSTS BRITISH MEDAL TALLY
Andrew Hunter claimed swimming's second medal at the World
University Games with silver in the 200m Freestyle.
The Stirling swimmer set a new personal best of 1:48.17 in
a fast race that saw winner Adam Ritter of the USA claim a
new Games Record of 1:47.42.
Hunter (21) was fast off the blocks and kept hold of the
second spot behind Ritter for the duration, holding off a
challenge from Canadian Brian Johns who closed the gap on
the final length and touched twelve hundredths of a second
behind for bronze in 1:48.29.
Hunter's silver is the sixth medal for the British team in
Bangkok which puts Britain 21st in the medal table.
Britain's men's polo team has guaranteed a top twelve finish
and will face Australia tomorrow to fight for a spot in the
final eight.
Diver Stacie Powell has qualified ninth into the final of
the women's 10m Platform which takes place on Friday (17 August).
