in Madrid.
British Swimming chief executive David Sparkes welcomed
the injection of cash to the event.
" To have such a large prize fund made available for
the World Championships is a massive boost for Manchester,
" he said. " It will help to draw the top swimmers
in the world to contest for honours at the MEN Arena which
will provide a real showcase for swimming in this country
and a great rehearsal for the London Olympics. "
The 2008 World Championships (25m) are scheduled to take
place in Manchester from 9-13th April.
