LANCASHIRE GO FOR FIVE IN A ROW
This year's National County Team Championships sponsored
by Topline and Wm Taylor Swimming Pools Ltd promise to bring
the best swimmers from around the country together for a day
of high-adrenaline competition.
Over 1,000 athletes are expected to descend on Ponds Forge,
Sheffield on Sunday 22nd October to battle it out for the
title of National County Team Champion and take home a prize
of £2,000 to help fund training and development for
future medal prospects.
With 38 teams from England, Scotland and Wales looking to
take the honours home, a 3,000 strong capacity crowd will
be expected to cheer for their home county.
Lancashire go into competition hoping to make it five consecutive
title wins, but the rest of the field will be vying to knock
them from the top spot.
Competition will be fierce as the top four teams from the
second division look to gain promotion. However, this will
come through the heartache of four teams being relegated from
the higher division.
The Championships, supported by Sheffield City Council's
Major Sports Events Unit will feature some of Britain's finest
swimming stars, with many of them having aspirations for success
at both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics.
