LEVEL FOUR COACH QUALIFICATION TO CEASE

The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) is to phase out its current Level 4 Coach course as part of its education restructure.

The course, which was the highest level of ASA qualification available to coaches in England, will no longer be offered by the governing body and will be replaced by the UKCC Level 3 Coach award from January 2007.

As part of the UKCC qualification structure, coaches will be able to progress to a new Level 4 award that will be of a similar level to a university degree and will be available from January 2008.

Candidates that have been accepted onto a current Level 4 course but have not yet taken the teaching elements can transfer free of charge to the UKCC Level 3 Coach course from January 2007. Those who have completed the course and are yet to be assessed on the post-course modules have until 31 December 2007 to complete their assessment to pass the qualification.

All coaches affected by this change should have received details by post, and they must respond by 31 January 2007 if they intend to transfer to the UKCC qualification or book a Level 4 assessment.

If you are affected by this change and have not received a letter, or would like more information, please contact Linda Jones on 01509 618 748 or email linda.jones@swimming.org
