STEADY START TO EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN
The first day of action at the European Championships in
Budapest proved to be a steady start for the British contingent.
Synchro swimmer Jenna Randall of Rushmoor finished 12th in
the preliminary round of the free solo routine with a score
of 41.150.She teams up with Olivia Allison (Rushmoor) tomorrow
for the Duet routines.
Open Water swimmer Alan Bircher finished 11th in a time
of 1.58.40.0 in a 10k race dominated by the Germans who had
two swimmers on the winners podium with Thomas Lurz and Christain
Hein taking the gold and bronze medals respectively.
In the women's 5k, Cassie Patten was the highest placed
British female finishing in 9th place in a time of 1.01.56.2
Philippa Davies and Isobel Newman (both Swim Swansea) finished
in 18th and 20th place respectively.
