PATTEN RECORDS TOP TEN FINISH
Cassandra Patten put in another solid performance on day two of competition
at the European Championships. Patten took 8th place in the
women's 10k event in Budapest. Her time of 2.07.23.8 was thirteen
seconds behind Angela Maurer of Germany who took gold.
Also competing in the women's race were Isobel Newman and
Philippa Davies. The pair are taking part in their first European
Championships and finished in 14th and 22nd place respectively.
Only nine seconds split a field of both established and up-and-coming
talent. In the men's 5k event, John Owen finished in 17th
place in a closely contested race.
Thomas Lurz of Germany collected his second gold medal of
the Championships, winning in a time of 56.00.1, 1.5 seconds
ahead of Owen.
