SILVERS TAKE BRITISH TALLY TO SIX IN BERLIN
Britain signed off from their European tour of the FINA World
Cup series with two further medals to take their tally in
Berlin to six for the two-day meet.
Mel Marshall was back among the medals, following her gold
in the 200m Freestyle the previous day, and she took silver
in the Women's 400m Freestyle with another impressive swim.
The Loughborough University swimmer finished in 4:03.26 behind
Japan's Ai Shibata, who took gold in 4:02.92, and bronze went
to Rachel Komisarz of the U.S. in 4:03.48.
Kate Haywood (Loughborough University) took a joint silver
with Germany's Janne Schaefer in the Women's 50m Breaststroke.
They finished together in 30.90 while gold went to Tara Kirk
of the U.S. in 30.52.
British swimmers narrowly missed out on two further medals
when Chris Cook (City of Newcastle) finished fourth in the
Men's 50m Breaststroke in 59.77 and Kirsty Balfour (City of
Edinburgh) also finished fourth in the Women's 200m Breaststroke
in 2:24.33.
