SWIMMERS TO RECEIVE THANKS FROM THE QUEEN
Her Royal Majesty the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will
host a reception at Buckingham Palace on 19 December to recognise
those who have made a significant contribution to local or
national life in 2006 with swimming being recognised.
Ross Davenport (Loughborough University) and David Davies
(City of Cardiff) travel to London to attend the event where
a variety of people from different walks of British life such
as the arts, entertainment and the sporting world will be
recognised by the Queen.
Following their successes at the Commonwealth Games, the
pair will go as representatives from swimming.
Both returned as Commonwealth Champions, with Ross being
part of the 4x200m Freestyle Relay team that took the gold
medal ahead of the Australians and David Davies took his first
international gold medal when he won the 1500m Freestyle.
At the Commonwealth Games, the Home Nations returned with
36 medals.
