POSTHUMOUS AWARD GIVEN TO EXPERIENCED DIVING COACH
Wally Clark has been awarded the Jeff Cook memorial trophy
at the 2006 British Diving Championships in Manchester last
weekend.
The experienced coach sadly passed away in October 2006 Ashton
Hockham-Marshall, Wally's current diver received the award
on his behalf in recognition of Wally's dedication to the
diving world. He had worked within the sport for 40 years
and passed on his experience to many divers and coaches including
Junior Olympic Programme Manager Kim White.
Wally was founder and chief coach of Merton School of Diving
and Trampolining, he started teaching swimming and diving
in 1939 and carried on his career for 40 years.
In 1982 he started serving on the ASA National Diving Committee
and made it onto the European governing body's list of judges
and became GB selector.
Also receiving an award at the British Diving Championships
was Callum Johnstone (16). He won young diver of the year
for his achievements throughout 2006, including a silver at
the European Junior Championships.
