MILEY CLAIMS TWO MORE GOLD IN EINDHOVEN
Hannah Miley won two gold medals on the final day of the
Dutch World Championships Trials in Eindhoven when she took
the 400m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley titles.
The Garioch swimmer has shown fantastic form throughout the
weekend and continued to impress in the 400m event which she
won in a new best time of 4:17.62. Miley was followed to the
wall by Jazmin Carlin from Cardiff in 4:24.63.
In the 200m IM event Miley touched in 2:17.62 ahead of Jess
Dickons of Stockton in 2:20.65 and Gregor Tait (City of Edinburgh)
earned his second of two medals when he won the men's event
in 2:03.90.
David Davies (City of Cardiff) took the 400m Freestyle title
in 3:50.89 and Robert Lang (City of Edinburgh) was second
in 3:56.83.
In the 100m Butterfly events Todd Cooper (Stirling) won in
a time of 54.44 while Terri Dunning of Birmingham finished
third in the women's event in 59.99.
Elizabeth Simmonds (Lincoln Vulcans) won the Women's 100m
Backstroke in a new personal best time of 1:02.17, while University
of Bath's Karen Lee was third in 1:04.93. Tait won the men's
event in 55.75.
Kirsty Balfour (City of Edinburgh) took bronze in the Women's
50m Breaststroke while Darren Mew (University of Bath) won
the men's race in 28.37 ahead of third placed Kris Gilchrist
(City of Edinburgh) in a new best time of 29.15.
City of Liverpool's Fran Halsall finished runner up to Marleen
Veldhuis of Holland in the Women's 50m Freestyle. Veldhuis
touched in 24.93 with Halsall coming back in 25.86.
Matt Tutty (University of Bath) finished second in the Men's
50m Freestyle in a time of 22.55 beating Pieter van den Hoogenband
into third.
