BRITISH TALENT FACES FIRST WORLD TEST
A group of British swimmers earmarked as some of the brightest
prospects for the future of the sport will compete for world
titles at the inaugural youth championships.
The British squad of seven will be up against emerging talent
from all over the globe at the 1st FINA World Youth Championships
which get underway tomorrow in Brazil.
And with four European Junior medals between them the team
will be hoping to make an impact on the world stage.
The British team, under the guidance of Swansea-based Head
Coach Bill Pilczuk, will compete in Rio off the back of a
10-day preparation camp in Fort Lauderdale in the U.S.
The championships will take place in the shadow of the world-renowned
Maracana football stadium at the open air Júlio de
Lamare Swimming Centre. The event will see finals and semi-finals
swam in the mornings with heats in the afternoon.
The 1st FINA World Youth Championships will take place at
the Júlio de Lamare Swimming Centre in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil between 22nd and 27th August 2006.
