2012 SYNCHRO HOPEFULS TARGET EUROPEAN JUNIORS
Commonwealth silver medallist Jenna Randall heads a 10-strong
British Synchro team bound for the European Junior Championships
in Germany next month.
Randall will compete in the solo event and is joined by British
team mate Olivia Allison in the duet, where the pair hope
to improve from their fourth-placed finish in Melbourne.
The competition, the first international event attended by
a British Synchro team in four years, will provide many of
Synchro's 2012 prospects with the opportunity to experience
their first major meet.
"The majority of these swimmers have been coached through
our youth programme by Gayle Adamson who will lead the team
at this event," explained British National Performance
Director Adele Carlsen.
"Jenna will be competing in the solo event and alongside
Olivia in the duet. Both athletes are fresh from the Commonwealth
Games and will be competing in the duet together and Jenna
will also compete in the solo event. We are looking for the
pair to do well in Europe and the aim for the team is to reach
the final.
"The World Junior Championships are at the end of the
year, so this event will provide valuable experience for the
squad. This squad is the core for 2012, so it's important
we expose them to as many international events as possible
in preparation for London."
The British Synchro team is as follows:
Olivia Allison (Rushmoor)
Katrina Dawkins (City of Birmingham)
Eleanor George (Portsmouth Victoria)
Natasha Lau (Rushmoor)
Rebecca Macenri (Portsmouth Victoria)
Helen Morris (Reading Royals)
Jenna Randall (Rushmoor)
Asha Randall (Rushmoor)
Elizabeth Smith (City of Birmingham)
Alexandra Todd (Trafford)
