DOUBLE SILVER FOR BRITISH TEAM IN TURKEY
Britain's student swimmers picked up two silver medals on
the second night of the World University Games in Turkey.
Loughborough University's Sarah Healey scooped silver on
her first outing at the Games, in the women's 100m Butterfly.
Healey was just outside her best time of the year as she won
silver in 1:00.09. She edged ahead of American Demerae Christianson
who took bronze in 1:00.16, but was just off the pace of Polish
gold medallist Otylia Jedrzejczak who finished in 58.74.
In the men's team event, the British boys took silver in
the 4x100m Freestyle as Chris Cozens (Loughborough), Todd
Cooper (Stirling), Alex Scotcher (Loughborough) and Ross Davenport
(Bath) made the podium for Great Britain in 3:20.45. France
took the top spot in 3:19.91 and the USA took the final medal
in 3:20.78.
Wolverhampton's Terri Dunning took gold in the B Final of
the 100m Butterfly in 1:01.18.

The 23rd World University Games take place in Izmar, Turkey
from 11-21 August 2005. The swimming events take place at
the open-air Manisa Ö.I.M. Swimming Pool.
The Games are held every two years and are open to competitors
between the ages of 17 and 28 who are university students
or who have graduated within the previous year of the event.
At least 7,000 athletes and officials from 170 countries will
be present at the Games.
