TEKA SUZUKI OPTIMISTIC FOR GERMAN MX1
This
weekend's Grand Prix of Germany marks the halfway point in
the 2008 FIM MX1 Motocross Word Championship as the Teutschental
circuit hosts the eighth round of the 15 round series.
And Team Teka Suzuki WMX1 riders Steve Ramon and Ken De Dycker
will be looking for stellar results race as the MX1 series
really starts to heat up.
Reigning MX1 World Champion Ramon starts the event in second
place in the series standings, just six points behind current
leader David Philippaerts. Ramon knows how to ride the spectacular
German circuit as well as anyone as he proved by scoring an
excellent second place overall at this race last year.
"The Teutschental track is one that I ride well,"
said Ramon. "But to me it is one track like any other.
I'm going there looking to win or at least finish on the podium.
I'm riding very well at the moment and my Suzuki is going
really good. It should be a good weekend for me."
De Dycker enters the German round having suffered a slight
arm injury at the last round in France which also affected
him at the Belgian championship round last weekend. After
seeking medical advice it's hoped he will be back at full
form for this weekend's race so he can improve on his fifth
placed ranking in the series.
"The crash in France was quite a big one and my arm
since then has been quite swollen and it's caused me a lot
of pain," he said. "I have consulted my doctor who
told me the muscle under my arm is inflamed. He has advised
me to take some medication and to keep on training and it
should be okay for Teutschental.
"I'm looking forward to racing there. It's a fun track
to ride and my results have been okay there in the past. I
need to make up some of the points I lost at the last GP so
I can challenge at the front of the championship again."
Weather conditions for this weekend's race in Germany should
be mostly sunny with some overcast spells. Temperatures are
expected to be in the region of 25 degrees Celsius, which
should be ideal for racing.
