TEKA SUZUKI SET FOR HOME MX1 GP
Team
Teka Suzuki WMX1 riders Steve Ramon and Ken De Dycker confidently
head into their home GP this weekend - the Grand Prix of Belgium
held at Lommel - looking to land themselves as well as their
factory RM-Z450s on top of the podium.
For reigning MX1 World Champion Ramon a good result this
weekend could well see him move into the MX1 series lead as
he's taken points from the current series leader David Philippaerts
for the last two GPs in a row and now just sits 11 points
behind the Italian with just five rounds left to run.
"I'm feeling very confident," said Ramon. "My
riding is going good at the moment and the deep sand at Lommel
will be good for me. I'm feeling fit, my bike is performing
very well and everything is looking good for a strong end
to the season for me - I want to win more races and I want
to win my third world championship."
De Dycker enters the Belgian GP on a high too after performing
well at last weekend's Belgian National championship round
at Nismes where he narrowly missed taking the overall win
after crashing in race one and then dominating the final two
motos.
Excelling in the kind of deep sand conditions found at Lommel
the former championship leader and winner of the only other
sand GP held so far in 2008 is looking forward to racing in
front of his home crowd even though he knows it will be a
tough race.
"It's going to be heavy for sure," said De Dycker.
"There will be a lot of guys who can go for the win like
normal but it's going to be a very hard race and it will be
interesting to see what happens. I want to be on the podium
and I want to make up points in the championship too because
I want the red plate back and I want to repay the team for
all the hard work they have put in."
The weather forecast for this weekend's race - that incidentally
is being promoted by the Teka Suzuki WMX1 team manager Eric
Geboers - is mostly dry with temperatures expected to be in
the region of 23 degrees Celsius.
