SPIES AND MLADIN ON TOP IN UTAH

Yoshimura Suzuki's Ben Spies clinched pole position for this
weekend's AMA Superbike double-header at Miller Motorsports
Park in Utah with a flying last lap that deposed his team
mate Mat Mladin of the top position.
Reigning AMA Superbike Champion Spies was fastest in yesterday's
qualifying ahead of the six-time champion but was trailing
the Australian until the final lap when he put in a time of
1:49.405.
Championship leader Spies also gained a point for pole position,
which brings his pre-race total to 308 points - three more
than Mladin.
Third Yoshimura team rider Tommy Hayden will start from eighth
position in both of this weekend's races and Michael Jordan
Motorsports rider Jake Holden ninth.
