SUZUKI WINS ALBACETE WORLD ENDURANCE
Suzuki Castrol has won the Albacete 8 Horas Nocturnas round
of the FIM World Endurance Championship and increased its
series lead to 39 points after three rounds.
GSX-R1000-mounted Keiichi Kitagawa, Matthieu Lagrive and
Vincent Philippe ran a consistent race which was incident
packed from the start:
The drama began on the start line when a bike and mechanic
collided, bringing out the pace car while they were attended
to. When the race finally got under way, Kawasaki Bolliger
led briefly from reigning Champions Suzuki Castrol, Yamaha
Phase One, Yamaha Austria and Yamaha Folch No.31. Yamaha Austria
briefly took the lead at the end of the first hour but Suzuki
Castrol re-passed them and was never headed from there on.
The team completed 295 laps, three ahead of Yamaha Austria
with Yamaha Folch on 290 laps and Yamaha Phase One Endurance
on 290.
Sweden’s Suzuki Fagersjo-el. se team finished in sixth,
Italy’s Suzuki No Limits eighth and Suzuki Team 18 Sapeurs
Pompiers from France, ninth.
Said Philippe: "This was a good result for the team
and for the Championship. The bike and the tyres worked well
so we are very happy."
