2008 Rowing World Cup series
Munich, Germany has been selected by the Council of the International
Rowing Federation (FISA) to host the first stage of the 2008
Rowing World Cup series. The event will be held on the Olympic
Regatta Course in Oberschleissheim, near Munich from 9 to

this event: The Idroscalo regatta course in Milan, Italy and
Munich. Munich will be the site of the 2007 World Rowing Championships
in August 2007.
"We are very proud to be able to host another Rowing
World Cup regatta on our course in Munich" said Bernd
Schuhmacher, Chairman of the Munich Regatta Association. "It
is very important for us to utilise the new and renovated
infrastructure provided by the World Championships in the
future." The Munich Olympic Regatta Course was built
for the 1972 Olympic Games and provides excellent facilities.
"We are always very well served by the Munich organising
committee. Over the years, they have acquired valuable experience
in organising major International Regattas with these incredible
permanent facilities," said Matt Smith, Executive Director
of FISA.
The Rowing World Cup series was launched back in 1997 and
includes all 14 Olympic boat classes. The overall Rowing World
