World Rowing Events Announcements
The FISA Council selects
Poznan (POL) for the 2009 World Rowing Championships,
Gainesville (USA) for the 2009 World Rowing Junior
Championships and
Brandenburg (GER) 2008 World Rowing Under 23 Championships.
The Council of the International Rowing Federation (FISA)
has selected the bid of Poznan (POL) as their choice to host
the 2009 World Rowing Championships. The FISA Congress convenes
on 5 September in Gifu, Japan and will have a ratification
vote on this decision.
Delegations from the national federations presented their
bids on 29 April in London to host three events, respectively,
Poznan (POL) and Amsterdam (NED) for the 2009 World Rowing
Championships, Gainesville (Atlanta, USA) and Brive-la-Gaillarde
(FRA) for the 2009 World Rowing Junior Championships, and
Poznan and Brandenburg (GER) for the 2008 World Rowing Under
23 Championships. Gainesville is put forward for the 2009
World Rowing Junior Championships and Brandenburg for the
World Rowing Under 23s Championships.
2006 BearingPoint Rowing World Cup regattas announced
The three rounds of the 2006 BearingPoint Rowing World Cup
regatta series have been announced by FISA. They are:
· Munich, Germany (26-28 May),
· Poznan, Poland (16-18 June), and
· Lucerne, Switzerland (7-9 July).
The Munich event, at the 1972 Olympic course, will serve
as the official test event for the 2007 World Rowing Championships.
Poznan, which successfully staged the same regatta in 2004,
will host the second on the famous Malta Lake and Lucerne,
on the beautiful Rotsee, is the site of the series final.
