Rock-It-Ball a Hit at Sports Conference
The new all-action sport from Yorkshire, Rock-It-Ball continues
to generate excitement. Shown for the first time at the Sports
Colleges Conference last week it was a big hit with delegates
and children alike.
Students, delegates and other exhibitors all tried out Rock-It-Ball
and the activity became the talk to of the event with one
keynote speaker citing it as a shining example of innovation
in sport and PE & Sport Today Magazine listing it as one
of the top innovations of the conference.
Dr Paul Hildreth, Technical Manager said “I’ve
never known an exhibition like it - as well as concrete orders
we’ve had invitations and requests from all over the
country and we’ve had people leaving their own stands
to play”.
The interest in Rock-It-Ball has, however, not surprised
the team behind the sport as feedback from the teachers and
other people who have used it has been universally enthusiastic.
Teachers in particular have appreciated its versatility, flexibility
and the way it encourages participation even from students
who avoid traditional sports.
The version of the sport which is proving the most popular
is the gladiatoral and fast moving Combat Rock-It which is
even finding favour in prisons. However Rock-It- Ball lends
itself to a number of versions which means it is suitable
for Rock-Iteers of all ages and abilities - it has been played
by children from ages 4 to 84.
Paul Law who was part of the Rock-It-Ball team at the Sports
Colleges Conference said “We’ve been helping implement
Rock-It-Ball into North Yorkshire schools and had one or two
enquiries from other parts of the UK but suddenly it’s
in demand all over. The excitement building round Rock-It-Ball
is unbelievable.”
And the last word, from a delegate: “You’ve got
something really special here”
