Outdoor Trial World Championship. Kramolin (Czech Republic)
TONI BOU FINISHES SECOND IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND STAYS
AT THE TOP OF THE LEADERBOARD
Takahisa Fujinami got another podium and stays third in the
overall
The Repsol rider Toni Bou ended second in the Czech Republic
Trial – the ninth round of the World Championship –
held today in the Czech town of Kramolin. With just three
rounds left Bou Is at the top of the overall classification,
but now with a 12 point advantage over his most immediate
rival, his compatriot Adam Raga. Takahisa Fujinami finished
third on the podium again, the same position that he finds
himself in in the overall.
Toni Bou ended the first lap as leader and with a three point
advantage, but a fall at the beginning of the second and then
a breakage of a tape limit gave him a ten point penalty, and
these points in the end cost him the victory. His teammate
Fujinami got better as the day progressed, he recovered points
on the second lap and moved into third position at the last
gasp.
Another Repsol rider, Laia Sanz, was tenth of those participating
in the World Junior Cup, she is now 9th in the overall classification.
Montesa won again in the constructors category and has extended
its lead at the top of the standings.
The World Trial Champioship will begin again on 31st August
in the Swedish town of Uddevalla, this will see the 10th and
third to last round.
Quotes
Toni Bou >>
“On the second lap I made a couple of mistakes that
Adam Raga does not pardon that type of thing. First I fell
when I wanted to avoid putting a foot on the ground, and then
later I broke a tape.
So performing like this and with a rival always on the lookout
for this sort of thing you cannot win; It may be just a repetition
of an old expression but this is reality. There are three
rounds left, 60 points to be won and I have a lead of 12 points.
The figures are clear, so much so that I cannot permit myself
the luxury of any type of mistake”.
Takahisa Fujinami >>
“I have got the same result as in the last few rounds,
but I did so without feeling as competitive as I did in the
previous rounds.
The podium was up for grabs right to the last moment and
the positive thing is having won it”.
