The ING Renault F1 Team Roadshow will touch down in Mexico
City next weekend for a spectacular show in the streets of
one of the world's most populous cities!
But it won't be the first time this month that a Renault
engine has made sweet music in Mexico… The main roads
of Monterrey to be precise, and then Guadalajara just last
weekend, have seen Renault's engine partner Red Bull Racing
building up the atmosphere to a crescendo on Sunday, 14 October
in the streets of the capital.
Mexico City is one of the most populous and vibrant cities
on the planet, but it will beat to the rhythm of the Renault
F1 V8 on 13 and 14 October thanks to the ING Renault F1 Team.
Organised thanks to the partnership of Renault Mexico, ING
Mexico and the Federal District Government, the event aims
to be a true motorsports festival, with a relaxed, approachable
atmosphere that reflects the founding principles of the ING
Renault F1 Team Roadshow programme.
The Paseo de la Reforma is one of the city's most famous
avenues, and it will play host to a custom-designed 1.4km
route (with a total "lap distance" of 2.8km) that
will allow the Mexican public to renew their love affair with
Formula 1. The sport has not visited the country since 1992,
when the 15th and final Mexican Grand Prix was held –
and won by Nigel Mansell's Renault-powered Williams, from
pole, on the way to Renault's first ever world championship
triumph! The F1 show will be complemented by a parade of historic
and modern Renault vehicles, as well as many trackside activities
to keep the public enthralled during this two-day festival.
The ING Renault F1 Team will be represented by Giancarlo
Fisichella and Nelson Piquet Jr, taking the wheel of the R26
car that won the 2006 world championship to put on a thrilling
show for a crowd that is expected to be among the largest
in the history of the Roadshow programme.
