ING Renault F1 Team thrills the crowds in the streets of
Warsaw - 3 JUN 2007
This afternoon in the streets of Warsaw, the ING Renault
F1 Team kicked off its 2007 Roadshow programme in style, when
Heikki Kovalainen produced a spectacular demonstration of
the R26 car in front of some 80,000 spectators.
Lining a 2.6 km circult, running behind the library of Warsaw
University, the spectators enjoyed a special demonstration
from the young Finn, who once again demonstrated his mastery
of the obscure art of 360° doughnuts at the wheel of an
F1 car! The circuit crossed the famous Vistula river over
the Swietokryski Bridge, where the crowd were able to appreciate
the true power of an F1 car as the Renault driver exceeded
240 kph during his demonstration run!
As the day concluded, Heikki Kovalainen summed up an action-packed
day: "I am really pleased to have been able to come to
Warsaw for this roadshow. At Renault, we are always trying
to get people to see Formula 1 in a new way and to get them
behind the scenes, and the Roadshow is a brilliant way of
doing it! I really enjoyed myself today, and people were very
friendly, and I hope they had as much fun watching the show
as I did behind the wheel!"
Now entering its fifth season, the goals of the Roadshow
programme remain the same: to put motorsport enthusiasts,
and newcomers, at the heart of the action; and to offer the
public the chance to enjoy a motorsport-focused event, with
Formula 1 at its centre. It was mission accomplised this weekend
in Warsaw, with an estimated crowd of 80,000 people attending
the first street demonstration of its kind in Poland!
The 2007 ING Renault F1 Team Roadshow will be back in action
on 28 and 29 July in South Africa!
