Barcelona Testing, Day 2,
A straightforward, high-mileage day of testing for the Renault
F1 Team in Barcelona – with lots of laps and plenty
of data.
Day two of Barcelona testing was a classic mid-season testing
day: lots of miles completed, good data collected and very
few problems with the cars.
The drivers concentrated on different programmes throughout
the day. Heikki Kovalainen continued to work hard on the tyre
programme for Silverstone, and had a smooth day of running
on his way to second-fastest time. He will fine-tune the final
tyre selection tomorrow.
Giancarlo Fisichella, on the other hand, concentrated on
preparations for forthcoming races. He worked on brake testing,
and also signed off a number of a components for the upcoming
Canadian Grand Prix.
Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk commented:
"We had a solid day of testing today in Barcelona. The
cars ran reliably, and we collected plenty of useful data
for the next races. Tomorrow, we will be putting finishing
touches to our preparations for the forthcoming race in Silverstone,
where we expect the R26 to maintain its recent competitive
form."
