POSTURE
The
topic of a correct or good posture has been touched upon in
many of our previous articles but we never talked about it
in detail. So, in this article we'll go over the definition
of a proper posture from the Pose Method point of view and
it's role in running.
Everything starts with gravity. It is at the top of the "correct
hierarchy of things" that we keep referring to in our
articles. If it wasn't for gravity we wouldn't even look the
way we do, to say the least about the way we move. While it's
an omnipresent force that runs the show, it is largely ignored.
Due to an amazing human ability to be oblivious to the elephant
in the room, gravity and sports, gravity and human movement
were never put together. The result? The society at large
is under an epidemic of clumsiness, back aches, torn cartilages
and lowered expectations...
So, what is posture? It is a certain unique alignment of
a human body and it's comprising parts.
What is the proper posture? For each and every one of us,
earthlings, that would be the posture that is in harmony with
the force of gravity. Proper alignment of the body allows
for the best interaction of all forces involved and due to
that very fact proper posture helps minimize the impact on
the human body and helps eliminate body aches, muscle strains
and injuries. Proper posture also allows your body to be in
the most "ready" state to properly react to accidents
like tripping on something, avoiding an impact with something,
stepping on debris, etc.
The proper posture recommended by Dr. Romanov aligns the
body in an S-shape to allow for the best interaction with
gravity. It is a similar pose to the S-Stance in Pose running,
but with both feet on the ground, body weight on the balls
of your feet, knees relaxed (not locked, not bent), straight,
but relaxed back, relaxed arms and head up, but without straining.
Proper posture is also the most balanced position of the
human body, making it the most stable. Thus in Pose running
there is a "fall" after the "pose" to
initiate movement forward. The S-pose alignment in running
should me maintained throughout the entire run to avoid unnecessary
moves that waste energy, and to produce the most efficient
movement forward.
Moving in the gravity controlled environment is like moving
in an area with an invisible electrical fence - you get zapped,
i.e. you feel pain, the very second you get out of line (read
- proper body alignment, proper sport techniques). Pose Method
is your solution, it is your personal interpreter between
gravity and you, available 24/7.
