Great Results for GB Orienteers at the Danish Spring Cup
CONGRATULATIONS to Jamie STEVENSON, Sarah ROLLINS and Mhairi
MacKENZIE who all made the podium at the DANISH SPRING CUP
this weekend! Cold and wet weather did not deter the TEAM
GB from performing well this weekend.
It started with ROLLINS taking the GOLD medal at the NIGHT
race (W21E)for the THIRD time, MacKENZIE won the SILVER medal
in W18E.
The following day, TEAM GB was led by STEVENSON's SILVER
medal in M21E LONG, only 50 seconds behind the leader Mats
Haldin FIN (winner of the 2003 O-Ringen Super Elite). ROLLINS
achieved her target with a top 10 position in W21E (finishing
joint 8th with Brigitte Husebye), MacKENZIE missed the medals
by 19 seconds in W20E finishing in 4th place. Rookies OLEG
CHEPELIN and SCOTT FRASER finished in excellent 5th / 7th
positions on M18E.
Relay day and the sun came out for STEVENSON who had a storming
run to take the 1000 DKK sprint prize for winning the 1st
leg. Meanwhile in the women's relay, JO STEVENSON finished
in a creditable 2nd place leading a pack of 10 or more athletes
on the 1st leg! Unfortunately for Jo, no cash prize for second
place.
A prize draw took place and COLIN OLIVANT won the main lottery
prize of the weekend and returned to GB with Home Computer
and HILARY BLOOR won a free entry. Visit www.springcup.dk
