LORENZO SAVADORI: POLE POSITION, WIN AND FASTEST LAP AT
VALLELUNGA
The
third round of the 2008 Road Racing Italian Championship was
held at Vallelunga on Sunday May 25th.
Lorenzo Savadori, with the Aprilia of the Team RCGM, conquered
a fantastic victory on the track of Rome. After the pole position
obtained on Saturday –improving more than two tenths
the national record formerly signed by the Japanese rider
Kuzuhara in 2006-, Lorenzo made a good start and didn’t
wait any longer to take the lead. He immediately rode away
and passed under the chequered flag with an advantage of more
than 15 seconds on the other riders. This success allows the
rider from Cesena, Italy, to strengthen his leadership in
the championship, with now 14 points more than Moretti, and
37 more than Ferro. We’re at half championship and these
results are becoming quite significant.
Lorenzo Savadori: “I’m very
happy, the weekend at Vallelunga was really good as I made
the pole position and also won the race. We were ok and the
bike was perfect. On Sunday I made a good start from the pole
position and I began to impose my rhythm, then the only rider
that could have bothered me crashed in the first lap and I
had it all clear. I went on pushing hard and after some laps
I already had a good margin which I managed until the end
of the race. Now on Sunday there will be the World Championship
at Mugello and I will race as a wild card rider, the confrontation
with the other riders will be quite hard but I will do the
maximum and I hope to manage to get some points ".
In fact, it’s important to remember that, on Sunday
June 1st, Lorenzo will race as a wild card in the 125cc race
of the MotoGP World Championship, on the Mugello track. It
will be for him the absolute debut in the world championship
and he will also be the youngest rider participating in this
important competition.
