SUPERCROSS ACTION LIVE IN LIVERPOOL!
25th & 26th January 2008
It
has taken the best part of two years to build the latest stunning
new addition to Liverpool's King and Albert dock developments,
including the brand new state of the art Liverpool Echo Arena
and Convention Centre. Over that time thousands of tons of
dirt have been removed from the site to be replaced with a
world class steel and glass structure second to none. Fitting
for what is turning out to be one of the hottest tourist destinations
north of London. It seems a little hard to believe that one
of the first events at the arena on the 25th and 26th of January
will involve filling the Liverpool Echo Arena back up with
dirt, but that is what will be required to stage the most
exciting form of indoor motorsport on the planet - Supercross.
As would be expected for a world class venue's debut some
of the world’s best Supercross champions will be in
attendance and competing including former US motocross champion
Mike Brown who will be representing Honda and the US at this
first time ever Liverpool event. Canada's very best riders
will also be on hand including Yamaha mounted, six-time Canadian
Motocross champ Jean Sebastian Roy (JSR), who will be joined
by his young team-mate and fellow Canuck, Colton Facciotti.
Facciotti is no stranger to British Supercross, claiming his
first British Supercoss title back in 2005 at the unprecedented
tender age of 16. Spanish Supercross star Xavier Hernandez
will also compete at the event representing Spain and KTM.
The UK will be represented well at Liverpool with former
British Supercross and Motocross champ Carl Nunn making his
Motovison Suzuki debut as well as another former British Supercross
champ, Lewis Gregory of Relentless Suzuki. Many other riders
from around the world including Canada, South Africa, France
and Belgium will be looking to defend their national pride
in what is steadily turning into an international race of
champions not just rounds two and three of the British Supercross
Championships.
Round one of the series kicked off at Sheffield Arena on
the 3rd of November with the final round set to take place
at London's newest venue The O2 Arena on the 23rd of February
where British Supercross Champions will be crowned.
