LORENZO SAVADORI : POLE POSITION, WIN AND FASTEST LAP DURING THE FIRST RACE OF THE 125GP ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP AT MUGELLO

Lorenzo SavadoriOn Sunday April 20th, the first round of the 2008 Road Racing Italian Championship was held on the famous track of Mugello.

Lorenzo Savadori made a perfect race with his Aprilia and demonstrated to be the man to beat.

In 2007, he already obtained the pole position (the youngest rider to ever conquer the pole position at Mugello during an Italian Championship race) but he crashed during the race. This year he had his revenge and showed everybody to be perfect, from the first practice until the end of the race, obtaining the pole position, the victory and even making the fastest lap during the race.

In addition he also broke an important record, first held by Marco Melandri, becoming the youngest winner of an Italian Championship race in the 125GP class.

Lorenzo Savadori: “I’m very happy about the result, I‘ve been looking for it for a long time and for various reasons it still hadn’t happen. Now I finally made it. At the first corner, I was sixth but at the end of the first lap I already was at the back of the first rider and I immediately went on the front. I got my own pace, from the box my team was giving me wrong information not to make me lose concentration, so I went on pushing at the maximum. Then, during the last laps, I saw I had an advantage of more than five seconds on the other riders and therefore I controlled myself until the chequered flag to avoid making any error. This is my first win with a 125GP, thanks to my team and to Aprilia, putting a great bike at my disposal. I also would like to thank my family, my manager Marchionni Roberto and all my partners. I hope that, with this victory, some more sponsors will arrive for us, in order to finish the season in an even better way. In two weeks there will be the second round of the Italian Championship, at Monza, and I hope to repeat today’s result. My dream is now to get the opportunity to participate in the race of the World Championship that will take place here at the Mugello track”.
