Thundercat Worlds circuit racing moves to FILEY (Scarborough
racing unaffected)
Castle Howard stays green as Thundercats World Championships
move on to Filey
In a last minute change of plan, Castle Howard has closed
its doors to the Thundercat World Championship racers and
spectators, citing green issues as the reason! Ironically
Thundercat boats enjoy a green life too, making minimal wake
and as little noise as they can, wherever they race.
As they say, when one door closes, another opens and for
the Thundercat Worlds a door has opened as wide as it can!
Filey has thrown its doors open to race teams and to the public
as they welcome the first ever Thundercat P750 powerboat World
Championship to Yorkshire. Spectators will be able to enjoy
the racing from the beach at Filey or from the Brig at Filey
Country Park. Dates are from Saturday 2nd June until Monday
4th June 2007 (Three days in all at Filey)
Filey is only 7 miles from Scarborough and is set to be the
home for the racers as they compete in the flat (circuit)
racing element of the Thundercat Worlds in June. With a Le
Mans feel to the racing at Filey with chicanes, close marks
and turns, visitors can be sure of a memorable day out. Filey’s
location couldn’t be better as it has open space, plenty
of parking and miles of beach to enjoy. The racers taking
part feel the move is a positive one and are looking forward
to Circuit racing at Filey. From there it moves on as planned
to Scarborough for both the endurance stage and surf stage.
Dates for events at Scarborough are Tuesday 5th June –
Sunday 10th June 2007
The racing at Scarborough is all about high drama at sea,
endurance and above all fun. Fun to do and certainly fun to
watch. As well as the racing the attractions at the Spa Beach
Days Festival and on the beach plan to entertain families
all day long. Along with Thundercat racing, the superb Pierats
jetski freestyle team, who have entertained the crowds at
the London International Boat Show, Whiteair and in Ibiza
with Xtreme action in 2006 line up and Virgin Atlantic’s
Hot Air balloon will be on Scarborough’s beach for the
championships. The RNLI will hold demonstrations and local
Hospice St Katherine’s is the nominated charity for
the whole event
