FIM SPEA Trial World Championship 2007
NO REST FOR THE RIDERS AS THEY HEAD FOR JAPAN
With
hardly time to catch their breath, or to reflect on a tough
French Grand Prix, the riders of the 2007 FIM SPEA Trial World
championship are already making their way to Japan ready for
the next round this coming weekend.
The two day event held at the famous Motegi Twin Ring circuit
is always a high point in the season, with the facilities
and organisation being second to none. However whilst the
teams will no doubt enjoy their trip to Asia, they will also
be content in knowing that they will soon be back in Europe,
with this being the second and final fly away event of this
year.
Without a win in the current championship campaign, Takahisa
Fujinami – Repsol Montesa HRC will be hoping that he
can use his home Grand Prix, with the support of his many
fans to change this fact. One small problem stands in his
way though, and that is Toni Bou – Repsol Montesa HRC
who has not yet been beaten by any rider in the three rounds
and four counting days to date. Adam Raga – Gas Gas
will realise that he must stop Bou’s 100% run very soon
if he is to have any chance of retaining his outdoor title.
Behind the current top three riders in the overall standings,
exists two other riders who are also hungry for success in
2007 for their own reasons. Dougie Lampkin – Repsol
Montesa HRC is still looking to record his 100th GP win, whilst
Albert Cabestany – Sherco needs a real boost after a
recent run of poor showings by his self imposed high standards.
Outside of the more established names James Dabill –
Future TRW Montesa is another rider to watch, with the youngster
threatening to break into the top five following his recent
Scottish Six Day Trial victory.
Although both the Junior and Youth categories can drop their
two lowest counting scores during the course of the year,
all the main contenders in these classes are making the long
trip to Japan.
Michael Brown – Beta, the leader of the Junior series,
and whose bike never arrived in Guatemala, will be hoping
his journey to the land of the rising sun will be more straight
forward so that he can extend his advantage over Nicolas Gontard
– Gas Gas. After a poor outing in France, Alexz Wigg
– Gas Gas should fair better at Motegi, where the sections
are more 125 friendly.
Alfredo Gomez – Gas Gas will arrive in Japan with a
100% record just like Bou, but he will know that he must be
at his best if he is to continue to fight off the challenge
of both Ross Danby – Gas Gas and Alexis Cervantes –
Sherco.
