THE WORLD’S BEST TRIALS RIDERS SUPPORT 2007 WORLD
ENVIRONMENT DAY
Hello Woods – Section # 9
Twin Ring Circuit, Motegi – Japan
Today
marked a special moment in the history of the FIM SPEA Trial
World Championship, when the top five riders in the current
series planted a tree in respect of 2007 World Environment
day (Tuesday 5th June) as denoted by the United Nations.
For more than ten years, the FIM has shown its profound commitment
with the preservation of the environment, and since 1994 has
adopted and implemented an Environmental Code for all it’s
motorcycle events. Moreover, a Memorandum of Cooperation between
the FIM and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP)
was signed last December in Lausanne, during the Global Forum
for Sport and Environment, whose main objective is to provide
a framework for cooperation and support aiming at reducing
the environmental impact of motorcycle events.
Adam Raga – Gas Gas / Takahisa Fujinami – Repsol
Montesa HRC / Albert Cabestany – Sherco / Dougie Lampkin
– Repsol Montesa HRC / Toni Bou – Repsol Montesa
HRC took part in a short ceremony to plant a single Japanese
Zelkova tree (Symbol tree of Motegi) ahead of this weekend’s
Japanese Grand Prix.
Also present were FIM CTR President Jean-Marc Crumiere, plus
representatives from the Japanese Federation and The Twin
Ring Circuit of Motegi.
Moreover, the FIM and the motorcycle sport community will
demonstrate its involvement in and concerns for the preservation
of the environment at FIM events taking place this weekend,
prior to the "2007 World Environment Day" on 5th
June.
