TMX Grand Prix Great Britain – Round 8 FIM SPEA Trial
World Championship 2007
Hawkstone Park 28/29 July 2007
The final count down has started for the TMX Grand Prix Great
Britain at Hawkstone Park this coming weekend, an event where
there is a real chance of British success on a World stage.
With their home Grand Prix very much on their minds, here
is what the leading British riders have to say about this
weekend’s event.
Dougie Lampkin: “After such a poor
result at the last round in the Czech Republic, I am motivated
more than ever to turn things around at Hawkstone. As many
already know this is going to be my last British GP, so it
would be brilliant if I could finish of with a victory and
clinch my 100th GP win in front of eight thousand screaming
home fans. It’s going to be a great weekend, as there
are a whole bunch of British riders who are on form at the
moment, so it really could be a great home coming for us all.”
James Dabill: “My two previous visits
have been mixed. 2005 was great as I arrived as World Junior
champion and had the chance to win my home round in front
of a massive crowd, but last year was not so good. I started
really well, but then fell away badly. This year I am fitter,
so hopefully I will be able to maintain my challenge. After
beating Dougie at the last round, a top five would be great,
and anything better than that would be an absolute dream.
I just know how good it would feel to be on the podium, but
that would take something very special. Hopefully the fans
will get behind me and help me achieve that.”
Michael Brown: “It’s a massive
event, and one that is so important to me. It is so hard to
prepare for it, as the sections are so different to anything
else we ride. Also the occasion is hard to prepare for too,
it is a huge day, and one where the pressure soon disappears
and is replaced by another feeling as the crowd really get
behind you and help you through each section. The noise and
atmosphere is just so special, and it’s a day I can
honestly say I enjoy from start to finish. It’s what
you dreamed of when you were a kid, and now it is reality.
If all goes well I should clinch the Junior title there, so
that will make it even more special.”
Alexz Wigg: “Hawkstone is something
that I look forward to so much. It’s my favourite event
of the year. There’s nothing like it. Last year was
just brilliant for me, it was so special. To win in front
of the home crowd, well there are not words to describe it.
It was the best day of my life. This year I’d like to
go and do the same. However it’s going to be tough with
the riders there are in the Junior class, and with me being
on the125, but I think that will spur me on. When I go to
Hawkstone, I think I can rise to the occasion, I can’t
wait for it.”
Ross Danby: “Well I have got to say,
if this is the last year at Hawkstone then I want to be on
top of the podium. Last year was a disaster for me, but the
experience I have gained from that dreadful day will definitely
go towards helping me to achieve my goal for Hawkstone this
time around. Hopefully, the fantastic Hawkstone crowd will
get behind me and cheer me up every inch of every section.”
The TMX Grand Prix Great Britain will take place over two
days once again, with the trial itself taking place throughout
Sunday. In addition to the test sessions, Saturday’s
programme will be packed with autograph opportunities with
the top riders, official practice and an extended version
of the Mini Masters trial, which was received so well on its
introduction last year. The trade village, that will include
some of the UK’s biggest dealers, distributors and importers,
will be open throughout Saturday and Sunday.
