World Trials Championship Round 7, Kramolin, Czech Republic
James
Dabill finished today’s seventh round of the 2007 FIM
SPEA World Trial Championship in the Czech Republic in sixth
place, a result he was delighted with. And like last weekend’s
event in Poland, James was once again encouraged by a better
second lap than his first, which saw him finish just seven
marks behind Jeroni Fajardo, but ahead of Dougie Lampkin and
Marc Freixa.
The Czech event was held at the Kramolin motocross circuit
and consisted almost entirely of climbs up rocky sections
or boulders. Like many of the riders, James felt the sections
were too easy, but several contained particular hazards.
One was a huge boulder in section six, which only two riders
cleaned on the first lap. James was one of the first to almost
make the climb, but his rear wheel wasn’t sufficiently
far enough onto the ledge to give him the drive he needed
to complete the move. However, he was delighted to clean that
section on the second lap.
While James took fifteen marks on the first lap, he shaved
that to just ten for the second, with only one five throughout
the lap. This was on section eight and he was in good company,
as only three riders managed to go through that hazard without
recording any marks.
Like many of the riders, James felt that the sections were
not as challenging as he was used to on other rounds of the
championship. However, despite this, he admitted to enjoying
the event.
“I really enjoyed today,” James explained. “While
the sections were not as tough as you might have expected,
there was a lot of grip and they were very enjoyable. I was
particularly pleased when I got up the big rock in section
six on the second lap. I was so close the first time round
but couldn’t quite pull it off.”
“I had a few bad fives, but I’m pleased with
the result. What’s most encouraging though is, like
last week, my second lap was better rather than worse, which
was the case early on this season. So I’m very pleased
with that as well. “
“It’s also good to be back in the top six again,
after last weekend. And, of course, it’s a very nice
feeling to beat Dougie Lampkin – it’s the first
time I’ve done that and that means a lot to me. I was
very pleased with that, but I’m not so sure he will
be. Roll on Hawkstone Park.”
