TMX Grand Prix Great Britain – Round 8 FIM SPEA Trial
World Championship 2007
Hawkstone Park 28/29 July 2007
The
next stop on the 2007 FIM SPEA Trial World championship is
the TMX Grand Prix Great Britain at Hawkstone Park on 28/29
July, and things could not be more perfectly poised for the
‘third and final home coming.’ Whilst the recent
British weather has hardly been inspiring, we have three fantastic
reasons, that come rain or shine will confirm your trip to
the famous Shropshire venue is a real must. Despite mother-nature’s
best efforts Hawkstone Park, with its sandy soil is in great
shape, car parks and camping fields included and is ready
to welcome you and the Worlds best trials riders.
3 Fantastic Reasons…..
1: Best of British
There has never been a better era for British trials at World
level in terms of strength in depth. The Brit army will be
headed by 12 times World champion Dougie Lampkin who will
use every inch of his experience to achieve his 100th GP win
in front of his home fans, in what will be his last ever home
Grand Prix and what just could be the perfect finale to a
glittering career. As well as fighting off the foreign challengers
Lampkin will also have to deal with the threat of the fast
emerging talent that is James Dabill. The young tyke finished
ahead of Lampkin last time out, for the first time in his
career and will be looking to at least be in the top five
if not on the rostrum when the action shifts to home shores.
In the Junior class, the champagne is on ice, as baring an
absolute disaster Michael Brown should clinch his first ever
World title, and what a place to do it, than in front of eight
thousand home fans. Brown may have the championship nearly
in the bag, but he will have others to contend with if he
wants to take the crown with a win on the day. Alexz Wigg
currently holds second in the series, and was a worthy winner
at the last GP, when he headed an historic British 1-2-3 as
Brown and Sam Haslam joined him on the podium. Ross Danby
has been so close to taking a round victory in the Youth category,
and sees Hawkstone Park as his best chance of achieving this,
taking into account the massive support he is sure to receive.
2: Such a special place
For those that have previously visited this very special and
World famous venue, for a scramble, a motocross or a trial,
we need not explain anymore, as we know that the memories
will still be etched deep in your minds. For those who have
never ‘tasted’ the most famous sand in two wheel
motorsport, then a visit later this month is a must. The atmosphere
and action is second to none, and with a new even more compact
course, you will never be more than a few metres away as the
undoubted drama unfolds. The history that surrounds this circuit
is deep and rich, but the reality is even better.
3: Because you make the difference
A passionate British crowd is what makes a great sporting
occasion, without you guys it would simply be just another
event, rather than a day in a million. The British riders
thrive and depend on your support, whilst the foreign challengers
recognise you as the most informed and appreciative audience
anywhere in the World. No excuse is good enough to miss saying
farewell to Britain’s most successful off road rider
ever, and cheering the new crop of British talent on to taking
up the mantle.
The World trials championship is not scheduled to
return to the UK mainland until at least 2010.
